Three Rivers Center for Independent Living - This non-profit, community based human services organization assists people with disabilities so they can lead self-directed, productive lives within the community. OnQ's Chris Moore visits the Three Rivers Center for Independent Living, and reports on its success stories.

Minspeak - It's just one of many fascinating developments helping physically and mentally challenged people to lead fuller lives. OnQ focuses on a language developed by a Pittsburgh-area man. Minspeak allows people to independently communicate a large vocabulary more quickly and efficiently than in similar devices.

Beyond Boundaries: Independent Living and Technology - Mark Schmeler, Ph.D., is with the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Rehabilitation Science & Technology and Dee Delaney is the Executive Director of the FISA Foundation. They will join in a discussion about independent living and technology that improve the quality of life for people living with a disability.

Children's Home of Pittsburgh Dance Class - Led by dance instructor Andrew Blight of the Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, these dance classes benefit kids from Child's Way, a daycare program for children with special medical needs. Classes consist of stretching, jumping, leaping and can also help improve comprehension and memory skills.

Beyond Boundaries: Culture & Leisure Discussion - Guests Joan Stein, President and CEO of Accessibility Development Associates and Veronica Corpuz from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust discuss the quality of life for people living with disabilities and the importance of access to arts and culture.

James Fair: A Welcome Home - In November 2003, SPC James Fair was critically wounded by a bomb while serving in Iraq. His injuries included the loss of both hands and the loss of sight in both eyes. Now, with the help of Homes for Our Troops, Duquesne Light, the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show and many others, Fair is living independently in a Ross Township home built to accommodate his special needs. OnQ contributor Harold Hayes reports.

Pittsburgh Police Motorcycle Unit: 100 Years of Service - 2010 marks the 100th anniversary of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Motorcycle Unit. They are the only police force in the United States to have ridden Harley Davidson Motorcycles for 100 consecutive years. There have been generations of families who have served as Pittsburgh motorcycle officers, and they ride year-round no matter the weather. OnQ's Chris Moore reports.

Leo J. Beachy - A Legacy Nearly Lost - In the early 1900s, photographer Leo Beachy took captivating images of life in Western Maryland, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia, but most of his glass plate negatives were destroyed in 1927. In recent years, Beachy's niece, Maxine Broadwater, recovered 2,700 negatives and is working to bring her uncle's remarkable legacy back to life.

Young's Foundry - The old foundry on the west bank of the Monongahela River once hummed with activity as turn-of-the-century machines cranked out parts for coal mines and riverboats. But when W. A. Young & Sons Foundry & Machine Shop closed its doors in 1969, it preserved an industrial heritage that exists to this day. OnQ contributor Dave Crawley steps through those doors, into the past, in a river town called Rices Landing.

Autism: Diagnosis, Treatment & Hope - OnQ profiles the Pittsburgh mother of a nine year old boy diagnosed with autism at age 3, and reports on two University of Pittsburgh studies aimed at helping healthcare providers diagnose autism earlier. Autism is generally not diagnosed until nearly age 3. Researchers hope their findings will allow for diagnosis as early as age one, so that younger children can access intervention services earlier.
