Original Soundtrack Recording from the PBS Special

Ten time Emmy winning composer and Grammy winning producer Brian Keane has crafted a unique soundtrack to this PBS special. Taking place in the middle 1700's, Keane drenches the score in the atmosphere of the 18th century by employing the instruments and music of the time period including works by Handel, French court composer Jean Baptiste Lully, and others.

Track Listings

"The music is wonderfully melodic and instrumentally intriguing, a very nice blend of textures and harmonies. Too little of Keane's work is available on CD - it was pleasantly suprising to find this one issued on disc and it's well worth seeking out." -- Randall Larson (read full review)

The War Book

The War: An Intimate History, 1941 - 1945 Hardcover Book, 480 pages

The vivid voices that speak from these pages are not those of historians or scholars. They are the voices of ordinary men and women who experienced the most devastating war in history. Focusing on the citizens of four U.S. towns, The War follows more than forty people from 1941 to 1945. Woven largely from their memories, the compelling, unflinching narrative is enriched by maps and hundreds of photographs, including many never published before.

Crossing Time

Crossing Time - The Wheeling Suspension Bridge
DVD

30 minutes - Produced by Argentine Productions

This program celebrates the historic suspension bridge spanning the Ohio River at Wheeling, West Virginia. When it was opened to traffic in 1849, it was the first bridge to cross the main channel of the great Ohio River. At the time, it was the longest span in the world at 1,010 feet.

The bridge collapsed due to high winds in 1854 and was rebuilt (in 40 days!) in 1860. Although the bridge has been renovated several times since then, it still has the original towers and main cables. This show explores the building, the collapse, the rebuilding, and the rivalries involved with the world's oldest existing suspension bridge.
